The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
